Yala National Park
Located in the dry semi-arid climatic region Yala National Park is the second largest national park of Sri Lanka with nearly 130,000 hectares of land. The land nourishes a variety of eco-systems ranging from moist monsoon forests to marine wetlands. Light forests, scrubs, grasslands, tanks and lagoons are habitats to many flora and fauna. Yala is home to more than two hundred bird species creating a bird paradise on earth among which six species are recognized as endemic birds – because of this amazing exhibition of wildlife, Yala National Park has become a must visit site for wildlife and a safari hotspot.
