Colombo

Kandy
The glory of the hill country - the city of Kandy is the second largest city of the island which is located in the hill country in 488m altitude. The term “Kandy” was originated during the colonial time, as a result of referring the hill country and its kingdom by the Sinhala term “kanda” (mountain). Today the city is a cultural hub demonstrating the proud history and local traditions to its visitors.
Sigiriya
The magnificent lion’s paw at the entrance, water gardens with surface and sub-surface hydraulic systems, boulder and terraced gardens enhance the archeological value of this renowned World Heritage site. Sigiriya is a rock fortress built by King Kasyapa (477-495 AD) during his reign. The mirror wall and frescoes reveal a story about an ancient culture enriched with art and literature.
Adam's peak
Located in the Southern Hill country of the Rathnapura District Adam’s Peak also known as Sri Pada (the Scared Footprint) is a 2,243 metres (7,359 ft) tall conical mountain which has a religious significance. The foot print found on the summit is believed to be the foot print of Lord Buddha by Buddhists, as Shiva's by Hindus, Adam's by Muslims and as St. Thomas the Apostle's by Christians. The pilgrim season begins in December and ends in May on the day of Wesak Poya. Many pilgrims and tourists who scaled Adam’s Peak prefer to spend the night at the peak of the mountain with the hope of witnessing the dawning of sun which is a breathtaking scene.
Dambulla
Located in the Central Province of Sri Lanka, Dambulla is renowned as the home to the largest cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The Golden Temple of Dambulla exhibits the unique archaeological and artistic skills of our forefathers. The visitors of the Namal Uyana can witness the beauty of Asia’s largest Na (Ironwood) forest and the largest pink quartz mountain range in South Asia.
Ella
Surrounded by lush greenery and tea plantations, Ella is a must visit tourist destination in Sri Lanka. We suggest you take the iconic six-hour train ride from Kandy to Ella. Kandy to Ella train ride is unquestionably the best train ride experience in Sri Lanka. The scenic tea plantations, beautiful waterfalls, man-made lakes, long tunnels, and waving hands of smiling children is sure to take your vacation in Sri Lanka to new heights.
Negombo
Located in the West coast of the country, Negombo is the closest and easiest to reach tourist hub when you arrive Sri Lanka (Just 10 km from the airport). Gifted with a long, sandy beach, Negombo is a city of sand, sea and sails, attracting thousands of visitors each year. The city is the fifth largest in the island. Tourism and fishing are the two key industries that dominate the economy of the area.
Arugam Bay
Located in the Southeast coast of Sri Lanka Arugam Bay is one of the world’s best surfing spots. The surfing season starts in the month of April attracting surfing-lovers around the world to Arugam-bay. The season continues till October giving the surfers opportunity to enjoy the best surfing waves of Sri Lanka.
Mirissa
Mirissa is a beautiful beach located in the southern part of the island. Mirissa is a beach lovers’ paradise – may it be pristine beaches, activities such as whale-watching, dolphin-watching, delicious seafood, best bars and 24-hour restaurants, or best surfing spots Mirissa has it all. Mirissa has some of the best secluded beaches – which are beautiful, pristine and safe to swim.
Nuwara Eliya
Resembling a small English town with its soothing cool-climax and colonial-style architecture, Nuwara Eliya is a must visit destination in Sri Lanka. Located in the hill country of the Central Province at an altitude of 1868m with lush tea plantations, vegetable beds and eye-popping strawberry farms, alluring flower gardens – this misty hilly town is sure to capture your heart. Take an exciting boat ride in Gregory Lake and if you are travelling during the festive season, you can enjoy fantastic carnivals, and watch horse races.
Yala National Park
Located in the dry semi-arid climatic region Yala National Park is the second largest national park of Sri Lanka with nearly 130,000 hectares of land. The land nourishes a variety of eco-systems ranging from moist monsoon forests to marine wetlands. Light forests, scrubs, grasslands, tanks and lagoons are habitats to many flora and fauna. Yala is home to more than two hundred bird species creating a bird paradise on earth among which six species are recognized as endemic birds – because of this amazing exhibition of wildlife, Yala National Park has become a must visit site for wildlife and a safari hotspot.
Jaffna
Located in the Northern part of Sri Lanka, Jaffna is an ancient harbor city. Jaffna is the home of Hindu traditions in Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan Tamil culture. Though one country, the southern and northern parts of the island have very distinctive food culture. Walk into the local market and you will be greeted by friendly local vendors selling fresh harvest and delicious fruits. The grapes grown in Jaffna, has a unique sour and sweet taste. If you are visiting during the season, you can buy bags full of yummy Jaffna grapes. The natural pool, keerimalai is considered as a holy water spring by the Hindus and is believed to have healing powers. The locals splashing into the water is a common sight during day-time.
Kalpitiya
Famed internationally as a dolphin and whale watching hot spot, Kalpitiya is also a paradise for kite surfers. Bordering to the lagoon from one side the windy Kalpitiya offers adventure loving kite surfers a wonderful space to enjoy. If you are a beginner, you can get trained by a professional trainer on calm lagoon waters. The surfing season in Kalpitiya starts in May and runs up to September. Both Kalpitiya lagoon and Wellai island are famous surfing stretches.
Minneriya National Park
Located in the North Central province of Sri Lanka, Minneriya National Park is home to many tropical flora and fauna. The land is habitat for various species including mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, fish, and butterflies. The grass fields near the reservoir are feeding grounds for elephants during dry season. Minneriya National Park is also home to endemic species such as monkeys (Purple-faced Langur and Toque Macaque), Sri Lankan Sambar Deer, Sri Lankan Axis Deer, Sri Lankan Leopard, and Sri Lankan Sloth Bear.
Polonnaruwa
Located in the North Central Province of the island, Polonnaruwa is the second most ancient city of Sri Lankan Kingdoms. The ancient part of the city is declared as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. The city consists of statues, Stupa and other buildings dating back to 12th Century, illustrating the proud history of Sri Lankan architecture.
Rathnapura
Located in the Sabaragamuwa Province of the island, Rathnapura district is home to Sri Lanka’s gem industry. The meaning of the Sinhala term “Rathnapura” can be translated as “City of Gems” (Rathna- Gems, Pura-city). Rathnapura is indeed a city of gems where the chief livelihood of people is gem industry.
Tangalle
Tangalle known as Tangalla among the locals is a famous tourist hub in Sri Lanka. This beautiful southern coast boasts some of the best beach vacation spots in Sri Lanka with broad golden beaches, beautiful beach resorts and delicious seafood. Apart from the beach, a must-visit sacred site is Mulkiriga Rock Temple. Here you can enjoy beach, water sports, nightlife and of course turtle watching. Goyambokka beach and Hiriketiya beaches are peaceful beaches to swim and even surf for the beginners. Spend your evenings overlooking the ocean, while enjoying delicious BBQ and sipping your favorite cocktail. If you are visiting Tangalle, another must-visit site is the blowhole at Dikwella which is the second largest blowhole in the world.
Trincomalee
Located in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka (on a peninsula), Trincomalee is renowned for its natural harbor. The Trincomalee Bay is blessed with scenic beauty and its natural formation provides ideal security for ships and other sea vessels. The beach is famous for leisure activities, water sports and whale watching.
Haputhale
The spectacular Haputale resembles a small English village with soothing climate and beautiful flowers bloomed by road sides. The lives of the locals are centered around tea industry and where ever you may travel in Haputale, you will see endless fields of lush tea plantations and local women wearing colourful sarees plucking tea leaves is familiar site in mornings.
Bundala National Park
Bundala National park located near the city of Hambantota is a wildlife sanctuary since 1969. It is identified as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2005 and designated as a Ramsar wetland in 1991. Bundala is a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Located in the Dry Zone of Sri Lanka Bundala National Park which is rich in flora and fauna promises you of an unforgettable experience.
