You shall not bring any items prohibited by the Sri Lanka customs when you are visiting the country. The prohibited imports to Sri Lanka are fresh fruit, drugs, and weapons. If you want to buy booze (alcohol) plenty of duty-free shops in the airport.

Sri Lanka is a country that can be visited throughout the year. However it is widely regarded that the best time to visit Sri Lanka is from December to March (the winter season in European countries) due the fact that the monsoon season called Yala Starts on May and causes heavy rain until August to the south and west coasts, and the hill country. If you are visiting Sri Lanka between May to August, the best locales to visit are North and East of the island. However, if you are travelling in October – January expect rain in the Northern and the Eastern parts of the island.

Buddhism is the prime religion in the country and the Sri Lankan culture is built-around and with Buddhism. Therefore it is important to show respect to the historic dagabas, Buddha statues, relics and temples you will be visiting during your trip. Also visitors with Buddha images tattooed or wearing clothes/foot-wear with religious imprints will be denied entry to the country.
