Famed internationally as a dolphin and whale watching hot spot, Kalpitiya is also a paradise for kite surfers. Bordering to the lagoon from one side the windy Kalpitiya offers adventure loving kite surfers a wonderful space to enjoy. If you are a beginner, you can get trained by a professional trainer on calm lagoon waters. The surfing season in Kalpitiya starts in May and runs up to September. Both Kalpitiya lagoon and Wellai island are famous surfing stretches.
