Adam’s Peak
Located in the Southern Hill country of the Rathnapura District Adam’s Peak also known as Sri Pada (the Scared Footprint) is 2,243 metres (7,359 ft) tall conical mountain which has a religious significance. The foot print found on the summit is believed to be the foot print of Lord Buddha by Buddhists, as Shiva's by Hindus, Adam's by Muslims and as St. Thomas the Apostle's by Christians. The pilgrim season begins in December and ends in May on the day of Wesak Poya. Many pilgrims and tourists who scaled Adam’s Peak prefer to spend the night at the peak of the mountain with the hope of witnessing the dawning of sun which is a breathtaking scene
